Our History

First Mile’s origins are rooted in a compelling immigrant success story that began in 1948. From their humble start in Brooklyn, New York, as a regional children’s apparel retailer, founders Isaac and Stanley I. Chera quickly recognized the enduring value of real estate. They strategically acquired the buildings housing their Suzette Kiddie Shops, soon expanding to neighboring properties. This entrepreneurial decision organically solidified real estate as a core, competitive competency for the family for generations to come.

STANLEY CHERA

This unique, three-generational evolution established an owner-operator perspective invaluable to the firm’s success. While the family has since divested in retail operations, their investment strategy remains uniquely informed by experience as a landlord, operator, and tenant. The current generation has purposefully built upon this foundation, forming First Mile Capital to apply that institutional strength. We continue to honor this legacy by upholding the same disciplined stewardship and unwavering focus on property fundamentals.
